White facing some demons

Neon White faces down some demons.

Demons are the bulk of the antagonists of Neon White. Heaven has an infestation of them, and the Neon assassins are tasked in dealing with these foes for a chance to win the Mechanical Halo during the Ten Days of Judgement and stay in Heaven.

They are the souls of those sinners whose names are written into the Book of Death.

Behaviour[]

Demons behave in different ways, and thus must be dealt with differently.

Barnacle[]

Barnacles fire a single bullet in White's direction every so often.

Balloon[]

Balloons cannot harm White, and pop when White makes contact with one.

Frog[]

Frogs fire a single bullet in White's direction every so often, at a higher frequency than Barnacles.

Jock[]

Jocks fire a slow-moving flamethrower-like stream of bullets that dissipate after some time.

Guardian[]

Locked on

Guardians lock onto White, prompting a lock-on warning to the player, and if they manage to keep this target lock (without sufficient interruption to disrupt their aiming, which can include hiding behind cover for more than a split second), they will fire and kill White instantly.

Jumper[]

Jumpers jump upon seeing White, and fire a few bullets towards him every so often.

Ringer[]

Ringers fire a ring of bullets around them every so often.

Tripwire[]

Tripwires project a "laser" that kills White instantly if he makes contact with it; on the other hand, if Tripwires are pointing at anything, be it an obstacle or an enemy, White can destroy the Tripwires pointing at it to destroy it.

Shocker[]

Shockers cannot harm White; they have a ring of "leaves", which will provide White with a forward burst of speed in whatever direction the leaf "points" at, also killing the demon.

Bubble[]

Bubbles cannot harm White, but block all outside fire while also allowing inside fire to exit. They can be killed by entering then exiting one.

Mimic[]

Mimics take on the same shape as treasure chests, though have a different enough colour for the player to differentiate. They die in one hit, and upon doing so, fires out a ring of bullets outward that does 20 damage to any entity it hits, friend or foe.

In early development, they used to steal Soul Cards.[1]
